But, contrary to popular belief, a properly managed conflict can actually lead to a better and stronger relationship that would not have been possible without the conflict.

Most of us try to avoid conflict as much as possible to protect ourselves from the perceived discomfort of conflict. Unfortunately, this often leads to our own compromises and, as a result, increased frustration with the other party. Right up until the day you cannot take it anymore and all the built-up frustrations come flying towards the person in question, now completely out of proportion.
